Driver and Sound Frustration.

Nothing is going easy lately.

After about twenty hours, finally got the lilliput's touchscreen working basically following the directions here using the evtouch drivers.

Unfortunately before finding this and struggling with the tkusb drivers, I had to upgrade to a 2.6 kernel. What a PITA.

It took me hours of tweaking the config to get it to work, mainly as I had X tying it to the wrong input event. Oddly enough, it still worked, just not right.

So I think I'm good and hit a huge problem. My audio out on my laptop is broken. No left channel. Tried for hours to find out what's wrong and fix it to no avail.

So I figured I'd go around it. First I used my usb sound blaster.
Thought I was good and everything was relatively painless. Until I tried opening another app.

KDE loses any playing audio streams whenever I open another app and it won't work again until I pause and restart the stream.

So I tried to convert my speakers to line-out. Almost worked using circuits I found on the internet, but too quiet. Even with a preamp.

Apparently in the 20 or 30 times I dissassembled my laptop and tweaked the circut, I fried the speakers as they dont' work at all even with the speakers back.

Dammit.

So not sure what I'm going to do now.

In other news, the touchscreen works through the flexible privacy filter. :)

I also made a fake faceplate to hide the lilliput until I fab doors to hide it.

Not perfect (looks better in person though), but for 10-20 minutes of work, good enough to hide it from wandering eyes.

Just a piece of 1/8" abs, a bottle cap and some parts of an old busted DVD player and some primer.

Bartered with my brother for his much nicer laptop.

Got everything running and 5x faster to boot. Just need to revise the mounting.
