29 January, 2008 - 15:59 Watch Your Favorite Recorded Shows On The Highway

Archos has never been the most popular of portable media players. They tend to be pricey, but what you're paying for is usually the most up-to-date technology.

The Archos 705 Mobile DVR is no exception to the trend. The 705 has a 7 inch screen running at a 800x480 resolution. This size makes it alittle more useful for watching video in your car. Some cool features of the Archos 705 is the ability to use it as a DVR, and keypad remote control.

Archos offers a car headrest accessory so your family or friends can watch the recorded shows in the car. The remote makes navigating through screen menus alittle easier while taking a ride.

21 January, 2008 - 16:37 Watch Your Television Up To Speeds of 140 mph

I remember the days when it was considered cool when someone had a VCR in their parent's van. Now if someone has a VCR in their car it's usually on the way to a pawn shop.

The idea of electronic media in a vehicle is something that has really caught on the past few years. With auto manufacturers adding tv screens into factory models, it's safe to say the craze will be lasting for a long while.

LG has just upped the ante in the fight for "Vehicle Electronic Media". Announced at CES 08, LG's "MPH" technology will broadcast TV signals to handheld media devices. On top of the fact you will have TV capabilities in the palm of your hand, it will be able to receive a signal upwards to 140 mph. This stat is what is significant to vehicle enthusiasts.

16 November, 2005 - 20:45 Want to control your CarPC with a Wheel Mouse only?

Maybe you know this situation:
You're driving in your car on a regular street and you try to control your favourite MediaPlayer / Frontend or you try to enter a new destination in your Navigation software.
Even by using a touchscreen monitor, this is not an easy task.

Wouldn't it be nice to have some kind of input device that you can handle easily without taking the eyes off the traffic?
At least, that's what I thought and some time ago I decided to make such a tool.

The first thing that came into my mind was the Mouse Wheel, a input tool that I won't miss with my daily work on the computer. Sure, it has limited capabilities but it's very intuitive and anyone can use it.

27 September, 2005 - 11:33 Back-up Your Car PC

When was the last time you backed up your data? What would you do if a virus hit your computer, it crashed for no reason, or you lost everything to a hacker? Can you cope with losing all your emails, personal documents, work files and even your accounts – for ever?

Most of us are heavily dependent on our PCs for our work and our home life. We happily invest in car insurance, house insurance and even insure our pets – but we often forget to secure our data.

Research shows that 93 per cent of companies who lost their data for 10 days or more due to a disaster filed for bankruptcy within one year of the disaster. For complete peace of mind all you need is a simple to use one-touch back-up solution.

ExBoot will save you time and money by being able to secure your data or recover it with the single touch of a button. ExBoot is just 600g in weight and comes preinstalled with an internal storage device which can hold up to 200GB of data. With a simple upgrade, this capacity can be increased to 400GB.

27 May, 2005 - 09:09 PhoCo's VisualDesigner goes universal

PhoneControl.NET's tool VisualDesigner, which is part of the PhoCo setup, has got an interessting extension. By applying the command line parameter -Other=xxx users are now able to create new designs from scratch by adding controls (Buttons, Panels, Listboxes, Labels, Sliders) and export these designs to be used in any other applications that supports skinning.

An export constsist of two major functions:
1. All controls placed on the main form are merged with the background picture and saved as two separate picture files (Jpeg or Png format), one for the normal state and one for the clicked state.

2. An Export-Provider is called (instantiated through COM) and all controls contained on the main form are reported to the Export-Provider. The provider is responsible to create a customized "skin" definition file (e.g. text, INI, Xml) that can be used with the application the Export-Provider is made for.

Since the design is not only exported but also saved using a VisualDesigner format (XML), users can reload the skin and apply changes whenever needed.
